A Thousand Words Launch


Welcome to the A Thousand Words!

NEW IN THIS BUILD:

Level 3. Experience the stunning, multicolored conclusion to the A Thousand Words world!

Interactability! Full interactability has been added to items in level 1 and level 2. Find all the new things you can grab and pick up!

New enemy effects! Watch the enemies streak across the sky once you defeat them.

Updates to Hub world. Some objects will now follow you into the hub world to show your progression. 

Birds! Watch the beautiful AI birds fill the world of level 1 with life. 

New music! Enjoy a more vibrant and filled out sound scape complete with themes from our freelance musician Casey!

New brush asset! The old, fairly wooden and boxy brush has been replaced with our beautiful new handcrafted asset.

Small aesthetic tuning such as updates to the easels, getting rid of the brush in the hub world, changing the size of particle effects in level 2, updating the tutorial level's canvas in the hub world.

BUG FIXES:

Fixed issue where projectiles in midair when round ended could hit the player after they won, resulting in a grayscaled world on level completion. 

Now the player can go back and explore worlds that they have finished, without necessarily having to replay the entire level, though they may do that if they so choose.

Fixed objects that would fall down when painted into level 2.

Fixed issue in hub world where two of the walls did not quite line up.

Changed end of round, now the player regains health on round end, making reaching the end of a round more satisfying and worthwhile.

PLAYTESTING:

This week's feedback was very helpful. The players enjoyed the worlds we had created and they especially liked the variation of level 2. They felt it was a good change of pace from the vast world of level 1. Playtesters also responded positively to the new name of the game, finding humor and poignancy in the allusion to the common phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Playtesters had small notes here and there. They still wanted interactability, so we added it! They felt the brush in the hub world was misleading and confusing, so we got rid of it. They felt the old level 3 was a good idea but possibly not interesting enough, so we came up with a better idea. 

We also used play tester recordings to fine tune the difficulty of the game and make chances to shape recognition confidence. 

FUTURE PLANS:

Currently Elker Studios has no plans to further update A Thousand Words. The game feels complete and we are excited to see how you explore the worlds we have provided you. Thank you for your interest in our game. We are very proud of the work we're releasing and we hope you enjoy it.
